Monthly Challenge – April 1 2011

I’m glad you all enjoyed March’s monthly challenge. Now, with summer fast approaching, it’s time to kick things up a notch, and take action now so that we can bask in our radiance once summer arrives.

So, once again I’m going to provide challenges in various areas of your life – but this time you should try to do each of them starting right away, to get the full benefit.

Sleep – last month you started going to bed earlier, so that you could wake up refreshed and ready to face the day. This month, start getting up an hour earlier, so that you can fit in exercise at the beginning of the day.

Hydration – odds are you’re still somewhat dehydrated, which lowers your metabolic rate, and drains you of energy. Start drinking 3 cups (750ml) of water each morning before breakfast, and before lunch, and again before dinner. This is in addition to whatever you normally drink during the day.

Fitness – You’ve already been doing the mini-tabata workouts. This month, lets add some cardio. I’d like you all to register for a marathon race in your area, sometime late in April. That gives you up to 4 weeks to train for it, which means you should start right away. Check out my half-marathon training schedule, and double the last 4 weeks portion of it in preparation for the race. Meanwhile, you shouldn’t give up on strength-training – double your mini-tabata workout from March. And, because it’s easy to get tight muscles doing all that running, make sure to attend two bikram yoga classes each week.

Nutrition – Spring is a great time for a cleansing detox. So, this month, start things off with a 7-day juice-cleanse. You’ll be amazed at how wonderful you feel by the end of it!

Skin care To reward yourself for a great month, and look your best, get in touch with a local aesthetician and book a chemical peel for April 30.

Celebrate the end of winter!
