My Wildish Self

I came across this poem the other day – My Wildish Self, by Reni Fulton. It spoke to me! I want to live in the twilight country of my wildish self, dwell there in the mysterious betweens of dark mountains, in the deep caves scarred with sacred triangles. I want to wander alone, elusive, pulsing like breath or waves of light. In my dreams I go there to chant with all my voices dervish spin to natural rhythms, feel whatever truths there are rise and swell under my feet, the vibrations of a great beating heart. I want to live in the twilight country of my wildish self, a deer leaping into...

Smile for the Day

I may have mentioned, once or twice, that we have cats in our house.  Wonderful cats – they bring a lot of joy to our lives!  Anyway, something happened this evening that made me and my son laugh out loud, and I thought I’d share it. It’s laundry day, and I’d taken out the blue bin to put all the dark clothes into before starting a load.  I tossed in the final clothes, closed the lid, and picked up the bin to carry down to the washing machine.  “This weighs a ton!”, I said to my son.  “I wonder if there’s a cat in there?”  I opened the...

Smile For The Day

A great punch-line can make or break a joke, there’s no question. Today I got an e-mail from America’s Test Kitchen (yes, I’m on way too many mailing lists) that contained a fantastic joke – it meandered along, and I had no idea where it was going right up til the surprise finish. I hope you enjoy it 🙂 * * * I’ll leave you with a Vermont story about a flatlander from New York City. He got sick of the big city grind and bought an old farm way back in a hollow, miles from a paved road. He drove down to get groceries every couple of weeks and had to pick up his mail from...

Laugh for the Day

I got this in an e-mail today, and it made me smile 🙂 so I’m passing it on to my readers – hope you all enjoy it! _ _ _ Women are Angels. And when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly….on a broomstick. We are flexible like that. _ _ _ What does it mean? As I read it, it can mean two different things: 1) treat the women in your life well – like Angels, even. In return, they’ll behave (more) like Angels. 2) when life gets rough, don’t give up. Just dig in your heels, and do what it takes to survive whatever life may have thrown in your...

Poem for the Day

Posted by on May 12, 2011 | 0 comments

I saw this poem a few days ago, and loved it! The author, Belinda Mrwebi, has graciously allowed me to share it with my readers. _ _ _ Today! As i rise and to open my eyes to a new day, i choose to live. My soul is bare to the possibility of life in abundance and the sweet smell of faith that takes you from nothing to plenty. The is a pounding desire in my heart to own this day. The is a silent hope slowly emerging within me and my soul is willing to take the call to life. Today i rise to fall a multiple times but in my falling i choose to rise. I courteously listen to the divine voice that...
