Comprehensive Core Workout #3
I hope you’ve all been enjoying my two 5-moves in 5-minutes core workouts (Core Workout 1 and Core Workout 2). I’ve been doing them pretty religiously (alternating between them, for the most part) for ages. For me, it’s not so much about having a flat stomach and killer abs (although both would be great) as having a strong core that enables me to do whatever I want to do without having to deal with lower-back pain/injuries. Anyway, I periodically come across additional core exercises that I try out and really like – so I figure it’s time to add a new...
Read MoreGluten-free Chocolate/Chocolate-chip Muffins – Yumm!
For various reasons (mostly health-related) we’ve been trying to cut down on gluten consumption in our household. Mostly that means changing the sort of meals we eat so that bread and bread-like stuff (pizza etc) just isn’t a part of it (I have no intention of spending crazy amounts of money on tiny dense loaves of gluten-free bread!) But the thing I’m famous for is homemade muffins for breakfast on weekends. I wasn’t quite ready to entirely give up on that, so I came up with this gluten-free recipe that’s quick and easy and amazing and moist and rich and yummy....

It’s Saturday morning, the middle of winter – which means I really want something warm for breakfast. Two extremely brown bananas (but not quite to the point of fermentation) sit on my counter (where they were supposed to remind me to peel and freeze them about a week ago, when they would have been perfect for Green Smoothies (still my work-day staple for breakfast and lunch)). The obvious conclusion? I need to make banana muffins this morning. We’ve been largely gluten-free for months, and I’ve sort of settled on an amazing Saturday-morning muffin recipe that...

My husband has just finished a 10 day juice fast (for health reasons), and isn’t ready to start eating ‘normal’ food again quite yet. So we’ve been experimenting with various raw foods for supper (which I’m thrilled with, because it’s giving me great ideas for the next raw-detox I do, probably sometime later this month – in the past it’s always been the suppers that I have trouble with, because they’ve felt so much like, well, rabbit food :-(). And we’ve hit on one that is a definite winner (even my kids like these, although...
Read MoreDive-bombers – a fantastic addition to your home workouts
I was just reading a magazine, and came across this exercise (in an article on how to get gorgeous, strong, toned arms). I had totally forgotten about dive-bombers. In fact, I’d say I probably purposely put them out of my mind – because the very first time I tried them, as part of a Tabata workout, we finished off with a round of dive-bombers. Absolutely brutal!!! But the part I really remember is that my arms were so sore afterwards (for days later) that even just touching the skin on my upper-arms hurt. That said, they really are an incredibly good whole-body workout. If you...
